KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — For the second time in two weeks, health officials in Kalamazoo County are urging people to avoid contact with the water at Sunset Lake Park after high E.coli levels were discovered in the lake.
Surface water samples retrieved from the bathing beach area on Monday found levels of the bacteria twice over state standards. The 30-day average is also beyond Michigan’s allowable maximums for the bacteria.
Additional samples will be taken Wednesday. New test results should be available Thursday morning.
The same prompt was posted June 9 after a failed water quality test.
