PORTAGE (WKZO-AM) — Portage Public Safety says a fire in a detached garade in the 6500 block of Monticello Avenue caused an estimated $80,000 damage late Monday afternoon.
The first crews arrived at around 5:30 p.m. and reported heavy smoke and fire that was so intense that they were not able to get inside to fight the fire. Instead, firefighters had to battle the flames from outside.
It took about 30 minutes to bring the flames under control. There were no injuries reported.
It’s not clear what was inside the garage.
