BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A Calhoun County jury took just over an hour to convict Markeese Irby for the November shooting of store clerk Nayef Ali-Saeed, which left the victim in a coma.
Prosecutors presented DNA and other evidence that connected the suspect and the victim to the nine-millimeter handgun that was used in the armed robbery outside the convenience store on Post Avenue.
There was also eyewitness testimony during the two-day trial. Irby could get up to life when he will be sentenced on Aug. 12.
