OSHTEMO (WKZO-AM) — A driver had to be rushed by ambulance to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo after crashing his vehicle through the railroad crossing gate at South 4th Street in Oshtemo.
The Oshtemo Fire Department says it happened around 6 a.m. after the driver experienced a medical emergency and reportedly suffered additional minor injuries in the collision.
Amtrak workers have been dispatched in the area to stop traffic for crossing trains.
It’s not clear when the gate will be repaired. Motorists are being urged to avoid the area.
