GRAND JUNCTION (WKZO-AM) — A Van Buren County man managed to get his car home without it being impounded or towed, but will pay a hefty price for it.
The 46-year-old from Grand Junction was seen speeding by sheriff’s deputies Tuesday evening and they tried to pull him over. Instead, the driver hit the gas and led the deputies on a two-mile chase through Columbia Township that ended when the suspect pulled the maroon Pontiac Grand Prix into his own driveway.
He then jumped out of the car and fled on foot. That chase went on for about a quarter-mile before the runner was taken into custody. The man told police that he had no valid driver’s license and knew he was going to jail, but just wanted to get the car home first.
He also faces charges for fleeing and eluding and resisting arrest.
