KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s deputies will be busy this weekend looking for people who are using fireworks illegally.
Sheriff Richard Fuller said the county has a straightforward fireworks ordinance.
“The law allows you to use fireworks the day before, the day of and the day after the holiday, and that’s it,” Fuller said.
There are also time restrictions on those days: 8 a.m. to midnight Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Fuller said deputies will investigate every call about pyrotechnic use outside that timeframe.
“If you see this, have a really good idea where it’s coming from,” Fuller said. “We will go address the household that has the fireworks that they’re displaying.”
Violators could face $500 fines.
