OTSEGO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A rising number of COVID-19 cases and other illnesses, combined with the lack of of substitute teachers, is forcing a number of area school district to close their doors ahead of the normal Thanksgiving holiday break.
According to a letter from the district’s superintendent, Otsego Public Schools will be closed all this week. The letter says that will provide staff and families a nine-day break, which will provide an opportunity to clean our school buildings and a break for students and staff to get healthy.
School in Otsego will resume Monday, November 29.
In Plainwell, officials say as a result of this increase in COVID and other illnesses, Plainwell Community Schools will be closed all week. This includes all extracurricular activities.
Similar announcements have been made for the Galesburg-Augusta, Hamilton, Middleville Thornapple Kellogg, Hopkins, Holland, and Zeeland school districts.
