KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Valley Community College’s Valley Food Share program set to offer enrolled students the fixings to make a Thanksgiving meal.
The “share” includes holiday recipes and ingredients needed to put together a family-sized dinner. Students are required to RSVP in order to get one of the 100 shares available.
“We are very thankful to our community partners and the generous donation from the Okun Foundation which has enabled us to provide a special Thanksgiving meal for our students,” college President L. Marshall Washington said during an interview with WWMT News3. “With their help, we can support student success by removing barriers, like food insecurity, that interfere with their ability to persist to goal completion and eventually graduation.”
Some ingredients include chicken, potatoes, apples, stuffing, parsnips, squash, celery, carrots, onions, rolls and butter.
Students are required to RSVP and choose a pickup time between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. in order to get one of the 100 shares available.
Students can pick up food curbside on Monday, November 22, from at the college’s Food Innovation Center, at 224 East Crosstown Parkway.
Students can also pick up food curbside on Tuesday, November 23 at the Texas Township Campus, 6767 West O. Avenue.
