KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — New state data indicates the unemployment rate in Kalamazoo County is down to 3.6 percent.
Southwest Michigan First Chief Executive Officer Ron Kitchens says Kalamazoo County remains one of the best places to find a good-paying job in the state.
“Both Kalamazoo County at St. Joseph County are tied for sixth in the state, in terms of best markets,” Kitchens said.
He also says more manufacturing is coming to the area.
“We’ll have 120 new jobs in Comstock Township out next to Bell’s,” Kitchens said. “A large expansion of an existing company, but a brand new location for them.”
Michigan’s unemployment rate is down to a 15-year low of 4.7 percent.
