KALAMAZOO MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The proposed site for locating about 50 tiny houses to house homeless people in Kalamazoo is meeting with some resistance from neighbors.
City officials said that the property located on E Stockbridge that used to house a state training center has been purchased so that Housing Resources, Inc., could place the homes, called PODS, there.
Nearby residents in the Edison neighborhood are expressing concerns that the project could be an issue, since there are children who live in the area, as well as a fear that the concept could end up like the situation at the homeless encampment.
A meeting is set to take place soon to discuss the project.
