KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo County Sheriff Rick Fuller and the Texas Township Fire Department have begun a ten-week campaign to collect teddy bears and other stuffed animals.
The toys will become part of the gear that firefighters, EMTs and police officers carry around to deploy when they have a situation involving a young child. It has been found that the toys work wonders to ease the tension in stressful situations.
They call it the “Teddy Bear Posse,” and it’s been around for a while.
They will be holding a kick-off event at the Texas Township Fire Department on Q Avenue on Thursday at 9 a.m. The public is invited.
You can also drop off stuffed animals at the Midwest Communications studios on West Main Street in Kalamazoo.
