KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Shocking testimony has convinced a Kalamazoo judge that Daveeta Walker should face trial for the murder of her 4-year-old daughter.
Testimony revealed that pathologists found evidence of over 150 injuries on the body of Kharisma Richardson. Her mother called it “discipline” in an attempt to potty-train the child, Dectective Sheila Goodell said.
Goodell told the court that Walker admitted that she punched and whipped her daughter with a belt and scalded her feet in a tub of hot water before the child was found dead on the morning of her fourth birthday in their apartment on Douglas Avenue.
Walker faces up to life if convicted on the four charges against her, two counts of felony murder, first degree child abuse and child torture.
Walker is being held at the Kalamazoo County Jail without bond.
No trial date has been set.
