KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Hundreds from Kalamazoo turned out for a Black Lives Matter march from Lacrone Park to Martin Luther King Park on Thursday.
While it was a protest against police abuses in other communities, it was also a celebration of the fact that relations between Kalamazoo Public Safety and the community are better than most. In fact, Chief Jeff Hadley spoke at the event, as did Rep. Jon Hoadley, D-Kalamazoo, and organizer Adrieana Wright, who says she just wanted people to see how Kalamazoo does it.
There were also activists, mothers, a circuit court judge, city and county commissioners and even a congressional candidate.
Kalamazoo Public Safety was well represented, but not in riot gear — they were there to mix in and march with the rest of the crowd.
