CHICAGO (WKZO-AM) — Gas prices have jumped at the pump just in time for the weekend, but GasBuddy.com’s Patrick Dehaan says it has nothing to do with the weather or the beach or anything like that.
He blames “Price Cycling” the ebb and flow of competitive pricing that had taken prices as low as $2/gallon at some stations, so low in fact that many stations were no longer making any money selling gas.
That’s why they hiked it by 30 to 40-cents.
Soon operators will undercut the station down the street to get their customers and prices will begin to go down again. He says if you wait a week, prices will be lower.
Timing is everything and that includes deciding the best time to refuel.
