PORTER TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — Michigan State Police say a 50-year-old woman is jailed after her pickup struck a 65-year-old man who was walking his beagle alongside 90th Avenue in Porter Township.
Investigators claim she fled the scene after crossing the centerline and hitting the man in the arm and ribs with the vehicle’s driver’s side mirror.
The victim has since been released from the hospital.
The driver told investigators she was reaching for her phone when the collision occurred. She said she drove away thinking she only struck a mailbox.
The man’s dog was not hurt.
