PAW PAW (WKZO-AM) — Michigan State Police have arrested a man in Portage who allegedly molested a 13-year-old girl from Ohio over the past week.
The 25-year-old Texan who lives in Paw Paw is being held in the Van Buren County Jail on 21 felony counts, pending formal charges on Monday.
Troopers were contacted by investigators in Hamilton, Ohio, who determined the girl was in Paw Paw based on her social media posts. Apparently, the suspect had befriended the teenager online, drove to Ohio to meet with the girl and brought her back to Michigan.
The girl has now been returned to her grandparents.
The suspect is charged with a number of crimes including criminal sexual conduct, solicitation of a minor for immoral purposes and possession of sexually abusive material.
He could also face federal charges.
