KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety has joined a number of other police agencies across the nation, issuing warnings to Pokemon Go players to be safe and mindful of surroundings and watch where you are going.
They say it would be a bad idea to step out in front of traffic, watch out for curbs and stairways, especially the ones that go down. They also say stay off private property.
A Michigan man was been arrested in Milford because the Police Station is a Pokemon Gym. That fact made it attractive to William Wilcox, a Pokemon Go player who pedaled up to the station and was immediately recognized by officers as a wanted man.
The repeat offender had failed to appear for sentencing after he was found guilty of burglary. They slapped him in handcuffs on the spot.
