KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Despite some initial resistance, the single-hauler trash program in Kalamazoo Township is being hailed as a success.
Kalamazoo City Commissioner Matt Milcarek said it has cut rates for trash pickup in the township. He says he hasn’t heard of anyone in Kalamazoo enjoying the rates they are in the township, and he says with the size of the city, they might be able to even bargain for lower rates.
It’s more efficient for the waste hauler.
Milcarek said it would also mean that only one trash truck would come past your house each week, which would not only increase quality of life and cut down on the noise, but reduce the wear and tear on the pavement.
The city manager was asked to look at the options come back with a report and a recommendation.
