COVERT (WKZO-AM) –A former Covert Township police officer has just been charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and kidnapping.
Bail for Erich Fritz has been set at $100,000.
The alleged victim claims she was in a car with a man, and that both drunk when they were stopped by Fritz two weeks ago. Investigators say he took her to a motel and checked her in, then booked the driver at the county jail.
When his shift ended, Fritz allegedly returned to the motel.
The woman claims she passed out on the bed after taking a shower. When she woke up, Fritz was raping her.
He claims it was consensual and that he recently passed a polygraph test. Fritz resigned when the allegations surfaced.
