KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — As accidents go, it was pretty spectacular — except for those directly involved.
Kalamazoo Public Safety says a car with bad brakes went out of control coming down the steep incline on Summit Avenue, shot through the stop sign at Douglass Avenue, careened off a tree and flew into the air.
In mid-air, it twisted 90 degrees and landed on top of a parked car on Cadillac Street.
It happened at around 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
A passenger who suffered minor injuries managed to climb out of the wreckage on his own.
The 26-year-old driver had to be pried out of the wreck and taken to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators say the driver was driving on a license that had been suspended indefinitely.
