LANSING (WKZO-AM) — Most of the news on the jobs front lately has been good, but hiring for summer tourism and seasonal work was not enough to offset all the new graduates entering the labor force and teachers taking their summer break in June.
Jobless numbers went up in 14 of Michigan’s 17 labor markets last month.
It happens every year, state officials said.
The numbers that count were still positive. There were more people working this June than in June of last year in all 17 labor markets.
In Kalamazoo County, there are 2,075 more jobs this June than there were at the same time last year.
