KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – This holiday season, the Kalamazoo Downtown Partnership urges the community to join the nationwide movement to support local by shopping downtown Kalamazoo businesses on Small Business Saturday.
“We encourage everyone to support local businesses every day of the year, but especially on Small Business Saturday,” KDP President Andrew Haan said. “Locally-owned small businesses are a part of the fabric of Kalamazoo and are vital to our ongoing economic success. Supporting downtown businesses is supporting your friends, your neighbors, and your community.”
Exclusive to this year’s event on Saturday, November 27, Consumers Energy will be giving away free $10 Downtown Dollars gift certificates from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., across from Lana’s Boutique on the Kalamazoo Mall.
These will be handed out while supplies last.
“Kalamazoo’s small businesses are the backbone of this community, and Small Business Saturday is a day we should celebrate!” Consumers Energy’s Vice President of Customer Experience Lauren Youngdahl Snyder said. “With the Downtown Dollars program, our goal is to encourage shoppers to ‘shop local’ and support the small businesses we know and love. We look forward to seeing the community come out strong for the Kalamazoo community on November 27.”
In addition, Small Business Saturday will be held in Downtown Kalamazoo every Saturday in December.
