BENTON TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – One man is in custody after a large fentanyl bust in Benton Township Tuesday.
The bust occurred around 7 p.m. at the Red Roof Inn Motel in Benton Township following a narcotics investigation.
Detectives received a tip from motel management about the possibility of drug trafficking after frequent foot traffic was observed coming and going from the suspect’s room.
Through investigations, detectives were able to positively identify the suspect and secured enough evidence to obtain a search warrant for his motel room.
Detectives found 37 grams of fentanyl packaged in 19 small baggie corners, along with one brick of fentanyl totaling 33.5 grams.
Detectives also seized an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect, a 29-year-old Dolton, IL man, was arrested on the following charges:
- Possession with intent to deliver fentanyl,
- two counts delivery of fentanyl, and
- outstanding domestic violent warrants.
He was transported and lodged at the Berrien County jail.
