GALESBURG (WKZO-AM) — The Michigan Department of Transportation says the $12 million reconstruction of Interstate 94 near Galesburg is nearing completion.
Spokesperson Nick Schirripa said the project is half done.
“The new 40th Street bridge over Interstate 94 is open, Michigan Avenue in both directions is open, and the new ramp from westbound I-94 to 40th Street and the new ramp from 40th Street to eastbound I-94, those are both open,” Schirripa said.
He also said workers are hustling on the project’s second half.
“By the end of September, we’re hoping to have those last two ramps open — eastbount I-94 to 40th Street and 40th Street to westbound I-94,” Schirripa said.
Schirripa said the newly-opened ramps are longer and more semitrailer friendly.
