KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — It was not unanimous, but Kalamazoo Township has brought their rules on gun possession in line with state law on the county trail system that runs through the township.
For the past several years, the township has technically been in violation of a state law that prevents local jurisdictions from enacting stricter gun controls. They banned guns from the trail.
Trustee Pamela Goodacre was the lone dissenter. She said allowing guns will not improve the safety of the trails. But they really didn’t have a lot of choice.
The ordinance may allow open carry and permit holders to carry concealed guns but the same limits and laws that dictate when and where you can fire a gun still apply.
