UPDATE – 8/11 at 10:42 a.m.: The driver of the suspect vehicle has been identified as a 23-year-old man from Oshtemo Township.
According to a press release, the man’s family contacted law enforcement after they noticed his damaged minivan. The driver has been interviewed by police and reportedly was not hurt.
Investigators are still investigating what caused the crash. They do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors.

KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a hit-and-run driver who ran a red light at North Kendall Avenue and West Main Street at about 5:00 a.m. and struck one of their cruisers.
The collision flipped the squad car onto its roof. The deputy is reportedly in good condition.
Investigators have swept up all the debris from the dark colored vehicle and hope to use it to track the driver who fled the scene.
They are also asking the public’s help if they see a vehicle driving around with extensive front-end damage and a missing front bumper.
