KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – UPDATE: The building that caught fire Sunday in Kalamazoo has been identified as the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1527, located at 1920 East Kilgore Service Road.
WWMT identified the building on Tuesday.
The cause of the fire was said to be electrical. It started in the ceiling of the building and burned down the kitchen, where most of the damage took place.
VFW officials told WWMT that the kitchen contained food for Thanksgiving meals that were reserved for veterans and their families.
However, officials also noted that they still have enough supplies for those meals, since some were being stored separately.
Supplies for Christmas meals will also be replenished in the next few weeks, officials said.
