PRESQUE ISLE COUNTY (WKZO-AM) — A man with a long criminal history has been charged with killing a Branch County woman in northern Michigan.
Brenton Walker, 55, is charged with first-degree murder and three felony gun counts for the death of Heather Young, 42.
Her body was found in the woods on his 80-acre property near Millersburg in Presque Isle County.
She was last seen leaving a bar with the suspect on July 30. Investigators used DNA and a tattoo to positively identify her body.
Young had reportedly traveled to visit her boyfriend and to look for work. She has three children.
It was an argument with her boyfriend that sent her to the bar in Millersburg, where she met Walker, who was a regular.
Walker has had a number of scrapes with the law, but most of them were non-violent property crimes.
