PORTAGE (WKZO-AM) — The Portage YMCA has indefinitely suspended a 21-year-old part time employee after allegations from a member that her privacy was compromised with a cell phone hidden in a box in a shower room at the facility.
YMCA CEO Steve Springsdorf says they are cooperating with Portage Public Safety, which is investigating the allegations.
Springsdorf says they are taking the situation very seriously.

Dear Members and Participants:
On Thursday, August 18, an incident at the Portage Y was reported to us, involving one of our members who reported that her privacy was compromised by an individual who was later identified as a part time Y employee.
We are investigating and cooperating with the police.
The employee has been suspended indefinitely pending the outcome of the police investigation.
Our priority is the safety and wellbeing of our members. We are taking this situation very seriously.
Please be assured that we do all that we can to make sure this type of incident does not occur.
We want all members and families to be and feel safe at the Y at all times.
