KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The Kalamazoo County Health Department has given the all clear for full body contact with the water in the Monarch Mill Pond on the southern border of the city, after a sewage spill there nearly two weeks ago poured 60-thousand gallons of raw sewage into Portage Creek.
The untreated sewer water was sent gushing up out of a man hole near the end of South Burdick because of a blockage in the sewer pipe below.
They have been running tests there for over a week and it took until now and this week’s heavy rains to flush the waterways clean.
