CENTREVILLE (WKZO-AM) — The Sheriff in St. Joseph County is asking boaters on inland lakes to keep their speeds down to a crawl for a couple of reasons
Two weeks of heavy rain storms have left the lakes brimming over with water.
Officials say they don’t want boat wakes to cause any additional problems for property owners on the shoreline.
The other reason is for the safety of the boat operators.
Officials say there are signs and other obstructions just under the surface in areas that aren’t normally flooded that boat owners would not want to hit at high speed.
