KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety has gotten another gun off the streets, and this time the suspect was asking to get caught.
Just before 5 a.m. Monday, Dispatch got a call of multiple shots fired at the corner of North Burdick and Patterson. We don’t know what the suspect was shooting at, but he apparently he didn’t feel the need to flee until Public Safety rolled up.
After a two block long foot chase, he was taken into custody.
A K-9 was brought in to search the area where it appeared he tossed something. They recovered a stolen small caliber semi-automatic handgun in a tall grassy area.
The 20-year-old, who was already wanted on an outstanding warrant, is expected to be formally charged today for resisting arrest and a list of gun charges including carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a stolen gun, and using a gun during the commission of a felony.
