KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — How do voters feel about living in Kalamazoo?
The city commissioned a survey to get snapshot of how they are thinking about a variety of issues, including the job performance of the employees at city hall, local institutions, and on amenities like housing, transportation, job availability and streets.
They also asked how they felt about an income tax proposal and the new Foundation for Excellence.
City Manager Jim Ritsema says people generally back the foundation approach to solving the city’s financial woes.
Only four percent said they opposed it.
About half of those who respoded to the survey support an income tax.
Three of four people think the city is headed in the right direction.
The commission will take up the memorandum of understanding with the donors, laying out the groundwork for the Foundation based funding scheme in two to four weeks, depending on when it’s completed.
