KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Residents and first responders will be at Bronson Park this Sunday for a ceremony to remember the nearly 3,000 people killed during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks 15 years ago.
The event has become an annual fixture in Kalamazoo. This year, Kalamazoo Public Schools Supt. Michael Rice will speak at the event.
Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller says there will be a heavy law enforcement presence at the event.
“Law enforcement and fire personnel will be there to help celebrate this because we recognize so many in our field were lost that day,” Fuller said. “It’s a really strong memorial.”
It gets underway at 4 p.m. Fuller said the memorial will be moved to a nearby indoor location if there’s rain.
