LANSING (WKZO-AM) — Sunday is the 15th anniversary of the attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
Lawmakers won’t be in session on Sunday so they held their ceremonies Thursday.
They not only remembered the thousands who died that day, but the 15 first responders who died in the past year in Michigan.
The Van Buren County Honor Guard and the chief chaplain from the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department participated in the memorial.
State Rep. Brandt Iden, R-Oshtemo, said he will be sponsoring his own fundraiser for the Cuff and Ladder fund, which raises money to support the families of deceased and disabled first responders.
The event will be held at Erbelli’s on Stadium Drive at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
