DEARBORN (WKZO-AM) — AAA says gas prices dropped nine cents statewide last week, the second week in a row that prices have declined.
Barring any major hurricanes, the prospects for even lower prices improve now that the summer vacation season is in the rear-view mirror, auto club spokesperson Susan Hiltz said.
Demand for gas will be dropping and soon cheaper winter blends will be available.
Nationally, gas prices went in the other direction, but just a few cents higher. Pollster Trilby Lundberg said that’s due to an uptick in crude oil prices, but pump prices are still on average 54 cents per gallon lower than last year.
GasBuddy.com says the average price for a gallon of regular in Kalamazoo is $2.01. Several stations were selling fuel below the $2 per gallon mark.
