CASSOPOLIS MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Cass County authorities are continuing their investigation into a two-vehicle accident Wednesday that sent two people to an area hospital.
Deputies were called to the intersection of M-51 and Pokagon Highway in Pokagon Township at around 7:45 pm on a report of an accident.
Initial investigation indicated that a car driven by 20 year old Marcus Long of South Bend had apparently run the stop sign at M-51, and was struck head-on by a truck driven by 34 year old Eric Blevins of Niles.
Long had to be extricated from the wreckage, and was taken to Beacon Hospital in South Bend.
A passenger in Long’s car, 20 year old Kenny Valme of Chicago, was also taken to Beacon Hospital for his injuries.
Blevins and his passenger, 33 year old Raemarie Bailey of Niles, were not injured.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
Deputies were assisted by the Pokagon Tribal Police Department, Pokagon Township Fire Department and SMCAS Ambulance service.
