KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Michiganders will not be voting on any ballot statewide proposals this November for the first time in decades.
Kalamazoo County Clerk Tim Snow said that is peculiar.
“It has been close to 50 years that we haven’t had a state ballot proposal on,” Snow said.
He also said he’s not sure if the lack of statewide ballot questions will affect turnout.
“What we have seen in the past is that voters generally do vote the top and there’s a drop-off, somewhat, during the middle of the ballot,” Snow said. “But people do flip the ballot over and vote ballot proposals.”
Campaigns for a referendum on marijuana legalization failed. The legislature also didn’t put anything on the ballot.
