LANSING (WKZO-AM) — State Sen. Tonya Schuitmaker has been named the legislator of the year by Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
Schuitmaker, R-Lawton, gained the honor after she sponsored a bill that would create a license plate that would help raise funds for the nonprofit.
“Mothers Against Drunk Driving’s tireless efforts to prevent unnecessary accidents and deaths caused by drunk driving has had a positive impact all over the country. The work they do is so important for making our roads safer for everyone,” Schuitmaker said in a press release. “The funds raised by this license plate will help advance their mission and continue spreading an important message.”
The legislation is currently being considered by the Senate Committee on Transportation.
