BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A suspect in a strong arm motel robbery in Battle Creek is jailed after leading a chase that went through Battle Creek Central High School and the alternative school facility for Battle Creek Public Schools.
The 17-year-old was located inside an occupied classroom at the W.K. Kellogg building late Monday morning after a 45-minute search, the Battle Creek Enquirer reported.
Police identified the teen as the suspect before 10 a.m.
The chase began after the former student was identified by security at the high school. He was isolated to the facility’s lunch room by a police officer that was stationed at the school and was briefly stopped after a stun gun was deployed, but ran off after pulling out the device’s probes.
Operations have resumed at both schools. Both were locked down.
