PORTAGE (WKZO-AM) — Investigators in Portage are blaming carelessly-discarded smoking materials for a fire that caused $25,000 dollars damage to a home in the 5700 block of Monticello Avenue, near Portage Northern High School.
They were dispatched at 2:23 p.m. Monday and had the fire under control ten minutes after arriving.
One firefighter required treatment for minor injuries at an immediate care center.
