SOUTH HAVEN (WKZO-AM) — South Haven is the latest community to be on “clown watch” after someone made threats to local students on Facebook.
They haven’t had any sightings of creepy clowns on the lakeshore, as they have in some communities, only online postings from the “Clown Nation.”
Most turn out to be hoaxes, like a recent photo posted from someone in Niles which turned out to be a photo from another state.
Acting South Haven Police Chief Natalie Thompson thinks it’s copycat kids in her town.
At least a dozen people nationwide have been arrested for various charges, including making false reports and even terrorism charges when threats are involved.
Authorities fear that there may be more clowning around as we approach Halloween.
