KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A non-profit which supplies weekend food for needy children in Portage is planning a craft show fundraiser this weekend.
It will take place at Lake Center Bible Church on Romence Road on Saturday. It will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature 49 craft vendors, direct-sale vendors, a 50-50 raffle and a silent auction. It will benefit Power Up.
Sarah Allen puts the weekly “Power Up Packs” together. She said around 400 students across 10 schools in Portage utilize the service.
“These kids typically qualify for free or reduced lunch during the school week, but then go home on the weekends and may not have enough food,” Allen said.
Allen said it costs around $170 to put a pack together for each student.
