KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Over 100 chemists will be on hand at the Kalamazoo Valley Museum for its 30th-annual Chemistry Day this Saturday.
“We are doing liquid nitrogen, and slime and magic sand,” Annette Hoppenworth, who is with the museum, said on Wednesday. “There’s so much going on, and it’s for all ages.”
She said one exhibit will make your boring spare change seem a bit cooler.
“You can clean your pennies with taco sauce, change it into gold and then smash it into one of four designs,” Hoppenworth said.
It’s a part of National Chemistry Week. Hoppenworth said, for this year, the theme for the annual national celebration is forensic science. She said the museum has a matching activity planned.
“For upper-elementary, middle school and up, we’re going to do a CSI mystery,” Hoppenworth said.
The free event gets underway at noon.
