KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The American Red Cross says 30 Michiganders have been deployed to help those impacted by Hurricane Matthew in Florida and North Carolina.
Five are from the southwest Michigan area, officials with the agency said.
Spokesperson Vicki Eichstaedt said it’s part of a significant overall response.
“More than 500 disaster workers are standing by in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina,” Eichstaedt said. “We also have 90 emergency response vehicles standing by.”
The storm killed hundreds in Haiti. At least one person is dead nearly one million people are without power in the U.S.
