KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety is looking for candidates interested in becoming officers.
While most departments just expect their employees to do police work, Kalamazoo cross-trains its officers to fight fires and be emergency medical technicians.
No previous certification is required. The agency will train, but certified firefighters will start at a higher pay grade and there’s a bonus if you can speak Spanish.
They are taking applications online through Oct. 23.
