PORTAGE (WKZO-AM) — It’s no secret that Michigan Democrats would like to win back control of the House and, while their odds have ebbed and flowed this election cycle, the latest revelations about Trump’s perceived attitude toward women has given them new hope that it might make enough difference in close races to turn the tide.
It’s not only given them hope in Representative Brandt Iden’s case, it’s given them an issue to work with.
Iden was a Trump delegate at the Republican National Convention and Democratic Representative Winnie Brinks says “Iden has been all in for Trump for months and … danced in celebration after Trump gave his speech.”
“Why can’t Brandt bring himself to criticize a politician who refers to women in the most demeaning terms imaginable and boasts about groping them?” Brinks said.
Brinks traveled to Kalamazoo County’s Republican headquarters in Portage from her district in Grand Rapids to deliver the challenge personally Thursday morning.
She claims he has gone silent on the issue of the Republican nominee since the release of the Billy Bush tape. She says she would like to see Iden “unendorse Donald Trump and distance himself and really make a point that he is willing to stand up for women.”
Iden was not at his campaign office and we have left a message for a response.
