KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A condemned home filled with trash and items that had been collected by hoarders for years became a big bonfire when it ignited just after midnight Monday morning.
The former occupants, who live across Skinner Avenue in a mobile home, first spotted and reported the smoke and flames.
The home and its contents caused the fire to spread quickly and burn so intensely that fire crews could only battle the fire from the outside.
Eventually, heavy equipment was brought in to knock down and sift the rubble to get at hot spots.
The home was destroyed. There were no reported injuries.
