PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Construction of the newly-funded Portage Community Senior Center will cause some road closures in Portage beginning Tuesday, November 9.
Starting at 5 p.m., Brown Avenue from South Westnedge Avenue to Currier Drive will be closed to facilitate paving, which is scheduled to begin Wednesday
morning.
That paving is part of the construction process of the Portage Community Senior Center.
Once the leveling course is placed on Brown Avenue, which is anticipated in the late morning, it will open and Currier Drive between East Centre Avenue and Brown Avenue will close for paving of the leveling course.
Operations will alternate between Brown Avenue and Currier Drive closures until both the leveling and top course of asphalt have been placed on each street.
Access to Currier Drive north of Brown Avenue will be provided at all times via either Brown Avenue or Currier Drive, with flaggers facilitating traffic.
Both Brown Avenue and Currier Drive are scheduled to reopen by end of Wednesday, November 10, weather permitting.
For more information on this project, residents can call the Department of Transportation & Utilities at (269) 329-4422.
