BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — The Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek begins its annual “Zoo Boo” on Wednesday.
It’s billed as a fun-for-all-ages way to experience a safe Halloween in a unique atmosphere. It’s also one of the zoo’s biggest fundraisers.
“It runs the 19th through the 30th, and it’s a pretty well-staffed and time-intensive event, but people keep coming out for the event and enjoying it,” Kari Parker, a spokesperson with the zoo, said on Tuesday.
There will be the usual carnival, hay rides and trick-or-treating, but Parker said the zoo is also trying to target older kids, in part by re-tooling “Haunted Africa.”
“We’re making it a little scarier,” Parker said. “We’re reccomending it for ages 13 and up.”
Parker also said the “Zoo Boo” will also feature new activities, including paintball and nightly entertainment.
An all-access wristband is $11.50 this year for non-members of the zoo. Haunted Africa admission is $5.
